Mark is a self taught musician who has his own style of playing.
Although he took Musical Theory in College and aced it, he's never had a lesson and
prefers to play by ear. His strongest musical influence came from the British
Invasion years, mainly The Beatles, Animals and Rory Gallagher. Over the years he's
developed an odd taste in music ranging from Bruce Cockburn to Steely Dan and tends to
steer away from the over played Mainstream.
His instrument of choice is a
true classic Bass Guitar, an 1983 Musicman Stingray. This guitar is famous as a Funk
Bass with a hot Humbucker. He just recently added a Peavey 700 watt Fire Bass amp to
go along with it.

Before playing Bass for ZMW he
actually started off as a rhythm guitarist. His guitar style is more acoustic than
electric and because bassists are hard to find, he found himself elected to the job of
bassist for ZMW. He still plays the guitar and has done a lot of the acoustic tracks
on ZMW's compact discs. He plays the Fender acoustic California series and his
favorite, Oscar Schmidt 12 string. He also owns a Yamaha 12 string, but says the
Schmidt plays much sweeter. One of his coolest memories was getting to do some
picking on the WDVE Coffee House Show.
His background is in electronics
and over the years he's built, designed and maintained ZMW's gear. He's the
President of Tunes - N - Tables Amusement Machines, Inc. and has been in the Jukebox
Business since 1982. He has seen technology go from 45's to CDs and now downloaded
music like TouchTunes Jukeboxes. The band practices in his building and it works out
well with having all the CDs around for learning cover tunes. Mark's hobbies include
making his own beer and wine.
"When I write songs, it's strange because I never set out to
write them, in fact they come to me out of the blue. The only time I write
deliberately is when the whole band is writing together. This is how most of our songs are
written because after all is said and done everybody put their own spin on it
anyway."
"The Ballad of Crazy
Sara, The Xmas Song and Blame it on the Rain are all songs I wrote at home but once the
band got to them they were completely transformed. I guess what I'm trying to say is
that ZMW is a team and everybody's talent is combined to give us our unique sound."
